Spring Cleaning Checklist for Every Room

Spring is the perfect time to reset your home. After months of windows closed and heating running, dust, grime, and clutter accumulate in places you might not regularly notice. A thorough spring clean sets the tone for the rest of the year.

Kitchen

  • Deep clean the oven, hob, and extractor fan
  • Defrost and clean the freezer
  • Wipe down all cupboards and shelves inside and out
  • Descale the kettle and clean behind appliances
  • Clean the sink and check for any leaks under the counter

Bathrooms

  • Descale taps, showerheads, and tiles
  • Scrub grout lines
  • Clean and organise all cupboards and cabinets
  • Wash bath mats and shower curtains
  • Replace old toiletries and medicines past their expiry dates

Living Room

  • Vacuum and spot-clean sofas and armchairs
  • Dust all surfaces, shelves, and picture frames
  • Clean windows and window sills
  • Vacuum under furniture and along skirting boards
  • Wash cushion covers and throws

Bedrooms

  • Wash all bedding, duvets, and pillows
  • Declutter wardrobes and drawers
  • Vacuum mattresses and rotate them
  • Wipe down mirrors, bedside tables, and wardrobes
  • Clean under the bed

Hallways and Stairs

  • Sweep, vacuum, or mop floors
  • Wipe down banisters and light switches
  • Clean front and back doors and letterboxes
  • Organise shoes, coats, and bags

General Tips

Work from top to bottom in each room — dust falls, so clean ceilings and light fittings before floors. Open windows where possible to air out the space as you work. Don't rush; spring cleaning is thorough by design.
